Enabling dogs to support young people with Autism and Emotional difficulties

Dunkirk and Lenton Community Centre

Monday 20 Jan 2020 10:00

This is a 90minute workshop for proffessionals and families who would like to learn more about how dogs can support young people with autism or emotional difficulties.

In this workshop we will explain and demonstrate a variety of games and exercises which can be used to support individuals or groups of young people in a home or group setting. The workshop also covers the importance of keeping dogs and children with additional needs safe together and how to tell if the dog is struggling with the exercises. The workshop ends with a Q&A session.

This workshop is brilliant for organisations who have a therapy dog or who are considering accessing therapy dog services as well as parents of young people who have autism or emotional difficulties who would like to learn how their pet dog can support their child at home.

Dogs are not allowed (including no therapy dogs). If you have a fully trained assistance dog you must notify us that you plan to bring them.

Refreshments avalible.

This event is for over 16s only - No refunds will be issued for under 16s
