Canine Support for vulnerable children

Dunkirk and Lenton Community Centre

Monday 13 Jan 2020 10:00

This workshop is designed for proffessionals, carers and foster/adoptive parents of young people who have experienced trauma, have issues with trust or are looked after children.

In this workshop we explore how dogs (both pet dogs and therapy dogs) can help nurture vulnerable young children through exercises which aim to develop trust, explore proprioception, connect to their own emotions, understand emotions in others, build confidence and patience.

The workshop includes demonstrations, presentations, guided discussion and Q&A. No prior knowledge is needed and you do NOT need to own or currently work with a dog in order to attend.

Refreshments are provided. No dogs are allowed at this event (including therapy dogs). If you have a fully trained assistance dog you must notify us before and as we have dogs(including a puppy) attending as demonstrators.

This event is for over 16s only - No refunds will be issued for under 16s
